The grounds at Maranatha Retirement Village in Kallangur, QLD, continue to be one of our greatest treasures: carefully maintained, thoughtfully designed, and constantly evolving with the seasons. At present, one of the standout features across the village is the magnificent Golden Penda (Xanthostemon chrysanthus), now in full bloom. This stunning Australian native tree, originally from the rainforests of Queensland, is renowned for its brilliant clusters of golden-yellow flowers that create a striking visual display.
The Golden Penda’s fluffy, pom-pom-like blossoms appear in abundance, often covering the tree in a sea of colour that immediately draws the eye. These blooms are not only beautiful but also play an important role in the garden ecosystem, attracting birds, bees, and other pollinators that bring life and movement to our surroundings.
Beyond its seasonal display, the Golden Penda is valued as a feature tree thanks to its glossy green foliage and well-shaped canopy, providing year-round structure and shade. It thrives in our subtropical climate, making it perfectly suited to the environment at Maranatha.
