Christadelphian aged care organisations from across the country gathered together in Sydney to foster relationships and share ideas.
This year directors and senior staff from three Christadelphian-based aged care, welfare, and retirement living organisations reconnected at a conference to share industry ideas, opportunities and challenges.
Christadelphian Homes hosted attendees from Olivet Care in Melbourne, and Bethsalem Care in Adelaide, over three days in August. The conference was held at our Sydney properties at Ashburn House in Gladesville and Courtlands Village in North Parramatta, and was attended by around 30 people.
Christadelphian Homes Chair, Phil Cubbin, said while it was not the first time the three Christadelphian organisations have come together, now COVID-19 was more manageable, it was long overdue.
“We’re all trying to do similar things in the aged care and retirement living industry, and so having our teams connect to discuss common areas of interest, and some of the opportunities and challenges we all face was beneficial for all.”
It was also very timely given each organisation is working hard to be ready for the new Aged Care Act that comes into effect in November this year.
The first day focused on aged care operations, where the Operations teams got together to discuss some of the different functions that support the smooth running of our facilities.
The second day was a Board, Management and Operations day where we heard from several industry experts. This was followed by a Board and CEO day, which was facilitated by Ant Pearce. It involved some strategic conversations around how we manage our workforces and culture, how we interact with members and the community, and the consideration of opportunities to possibly work together at the Christadelphian Conference in Brisbane (July 2026, God willing).
The teams from interstate were also able to get some first-hand views of our properties, and everyone had some fun together, and connected with some new and older friends.
In the end everyone agreed the more we can share insights into how we do things and manage some of the challenges and opportunities we each face, the better we are able to care for our residents and communities, and show God’s love.
