Christadelphian Homes is stepping up to meet the changing needs of our Retirement Living residents.
The changing face of retirement living is reflected in the evolving needs and expectations of the Independent Living residents we welcome into our retirement communities.
Our two Villages, Maranatha in Kallangur, QLD, and Courtlands in North Parramatta, NSW, have long been communities of friendship, trust and peaceful living, complemented by tailored activities and services, and the beautiful gardens our residents enjoy.
Last year we built upon our focus of ensuring our existing programs and facilities are maintained to a high standard, and moving forward on providing additional services and support to meet the needs of a changing retirement population.
Maranatha Village
At Maranatha, we have begun our project to redevelop all the vacant Independent Living Units (ILUs), and appointed a builder to commence Stage One.
This will consist of a full renovation of an initial four ILUs to aesthetically complement the renovations completed in 2017.
After Board approval was given for the project, extensive design work was undertaken, and various building approvals were sought and obtained. Plans for Stage Two are now being developed, which will include the renovation of up to a further four more ILUs.
The trial of a Village Wellbeing Coordinator continued throughout the year to further support our Independent Living residents, and we welcomed Niva Koreti Bath into the role after Renee Bloomer moved into a leadership position within the aged care home.
Other developments for the Village include the consideration of a community centre as a central feature of the property, and the commission of the installation of a second toilet in the Recreation room.
Courtlands Village
At Courtlands in Sydney, Stage One of the lift installation program to install the first two of six external lifts has now commenced. This follows Board approval for all lifts, completion of design work, appointment of a builder, finalisation of various building approvals and the ordering of the initial lifts.
Installation of the first two lifts is expected to be completed by March this year, and planning is well underway for the next stages of the program to install the remaining four lifts.
Christadelphian Homes has also appointed a Retirement Living specialist (Vision) at Courtlands Village, to advise us on ways to improve the sales and marketing of our ILUs, and the services our resident community may need into the future.
This relationship has already proved fruitful and resulted in some additional sales of the vacant ILUs,
We have also commenced an onsite trial of a new allied health and wellbeing partner (Bliss Care), and there has been some initial consideration of Christadelphian Homes providing Home Care services into the Village community.
These developments follow successful events throughout the year that showcased the best of our communities, including the Maranatha Spring Fair, and the Courtlands Village Open Day.
The Christadelphian Homes Board and Executive spent some time discussing our retirement villages during the year, and these new programs and services will inform our ongoing considerations as we seek to meet the needs of all residents of our Retirement Living communities into the future.
